FIXING A TREADMILL-IS IT POSSIBLE TO DO IT AT HOME?

A treadmill has been an essential piece of equipment for a gym or a home to complete a workout session effectively. Running or walking is a basic form of exercise that can improve cardiovascular health. And a treadmill is designed to facilitate these two primary exercise modules and can be installed within a smaller space. However, there are several issues that could cause it. In this section of the blog, three of the most common malfunctioning issues will be highlighted. And a comprehensive guideline will be shared to understand and fix the treadmill issues.

A. Troubleshooting in switching on

From the customer care reports, a common issue is found to be occurring more frequently i.e. users aren’t able to switch on the treadmill. The basic guidelines are to be followed if it happens-

1. Checking the connection at the power source. Three ways it can be checked. Firstly, with a tester tool, the presence of current can be ensured at the power-source point. And secondly, by changing the power cord of the treadmill. Thirdly, the connection points should be checked (opened and inserted back) properly.

2. If the treadmill is checked as per the previous ways, its fuses are to be checked afterward.

3. If the electrical connections and fuses are found to be okay, the switch-on button should be checked and changed if needed.

4. A professional repair guy will be required if the above ways cannot resolve the problem.

B. Malfunctioning of the drive belt

For a regular user, it won’t be difficult job to feel that he’s finding some discomfort while running. If the problem lies with the walking belt, it will be visible with some worn-out look or torn places. However, the issues will be with the drive belt if no such visible signs cannot be noticed.

1. Fixation of the drive belt problem begins with unplugging the device. It will save the person from any kind of accidental issues resulting from electric current.

2. Treadmill’s walking belt is to be cleaned and lubricated properly, and then it’s to be centered in the middle (in both front and back rollers).

3. After that, the device should be switched on. Then it should be allowed to run at a constant speed for some time. If no jerking is observed, the problem would seem to be solved.

4. If the problems remain after that, the belt should be removed according to the manual’s instructions.

C. Fixing a treadmill’s motor

If the problem remains after the lubrication or replacement of the walking belt and replacement of the drive belt, the problem would lie with the drive motor (90% of the cases).

In the advanced treadmill, the display shows an error code to indicate what types of motor problems are there. With some previous electrical experience, a user can fix or replace the motor following the instructions of a manual. However, for older devices, it’s recommended to take the help of a technician.

The above are some of the tricks to fix the troubleshooting issues of a treadmill at home. Here, the highlights were given on the basics which users often ignore. And as a result, it costs them some extra dollars.

Let's set the record straight : we're not actually doctors, much as our mom would love to brag otherwise. We're two brothers from Olive Branch, MS, who have an MBA, an MDiv, and a Master's in Political Science between us-but no MD.

Over the years though, we've certainly earned our specialties in "elliptretics" and "treadmllology" - and Clark really did start out by using a stethoscope to diagnose faults with treadmills ( hence the company name).

In fact, we've been in this industry since Clark was still In school in 1987 - when the commercial fitness equipment Industry was only a few years old. And It's no longer just us two: today we're a team of 32 fitness- equipment enthusiasts, - all devoting our lives to keeping your machines in peak condition.
