Fitness Mythbusting

As with all endeavors of life, myths are created, usually from the experience from people who actually have an experience that makes them think that they have had what they believe to be a genuine result. The truth of the matter is that it was just coincidence or faulty memory.

Especially in the fitness world, there are all kinds of myths out there which was recently addressed in an article by Jeff Csatari in Scouting Magazine.

To summarize, Jeff tackles the following seven myths and gives a good retort to each myth.

  • 1. Crunches will melt your belly and give you six-pack abs.
  • 2. Walking on a treadmill is just as effective as walking outside.
  • 3. Stretching before exercise prevents injury.
  • 4. No pain, no gain.
  • 5. You should have a sports drink during and after every workout to replenish electrolytes.
  • 6. You can target fat burn to a specific part of your body.
  • 7. The best time to work out is first thing in the morning.

Hopefully Jeff’s article will help you understand how myths are created in the fitness world and keep you from forming your own.

About the author

Admin

Clark, with his MBA from the University of Memphis, along with his brother & CEO, established Treadmill Doctor in 1998 as a leading fitness equipment services company that specializes in the parts, repair, and maintenance of both residential and commercial units. It is included in the Inc5000® fastest growing companies in the United States.

Not a doctor (even though his mom loves to brag otherwise); Clark really did start out by using a stethoscope to diagnose faults with treadmills which gave birth to the company name. Over the years though, they've certainly earned their specialties in "elliptretics" and "treadmllology".
