Brief Overview

Paying $5K for a SportsArt is like paying $100K for a Hyundai. I'm sure it's possible but in both cases, you are getting screwed. The SportsArt E830 is a very good elliptical for a ridiculous price.

Overall Quality

My Dad and I argue this point all the time over his Hyundai Genesis. It's a great car but for the $40K he paid for it he could have bought a BMW or Lexus.

The SportsArt E830 is a nice elliptical. That being said, $4,999 is much too high of a price. You can get machines that are even higher quality if you are willing to spend this much money. If you can get a discount, however, this might be a nice option. Its definitely got a warranty that makes it worth considering.

Ergonomically speaking, this machine is good. It's not impressive at this high of a cost, however. Ellipticals that sell for a couple of thousand dollars less often have a more natural range of motion. The electronically adjustable stride can be set between 17-26", which gives you a nice range to fit your personal body type. 20 levels of resistance also give you the ability to align your workout with your fitness levels. There aren't a lot of ellipticals that have more options for adjustments, but some of those that are costless.

As far as projected reliability is concerned, this model isn't bad. Once again, the problem is with the price. There are a couple of elliptical that cost only $1,500 that have a comparable life expectancy. That quality of parts is also nice, although overshadowed by the high price.

The noise levels of the machine are below average. Most ellipticals make about the same amount of noise regardless of price, but this is one of the few models that is a bit quieter than most. If quietness during operation is a major concern for you, there are a couple of ellipticals in this price range that make less noise.

The warranty on the SportsArt E825 is great. Labor is covered for 1 year, electronics are covered for 5 years, parts are covered for 10 years and the frame is covered for life. Very few ellipticals have a better warranty.

Conclusion

The E830 is the best residential elliptical that SportsArt makes. It has a solid drive system, excellent adjustability, and good features. You just have to be crazy to pay $5K for a SportsArt elliptical, especially when you compare it to what is available from True Fitness and Precor.
