Brief Overview

An OK machine from a company that has a history of making bad products in this price range. We would pass on the FS 2.5e.

Overall Quality

An almost identical model to the FS1.7e for a little less money. Dyaco, the company that makes xTerra does not have a good history of producing products under $500 that are decent quality. If they are willing to give it a 5 year warranty it may be worth taking a chance on. The xTerra FS 2.5 e is a mediocre elliptical. It is very similar to the FS 1.7 e, but at $349, it's $30 cheaper. The warranty is the only quality that makes this model seem appealing, and the company that makes this machine has a bad history of producing bad ellipticals in this price range. We think you can find better options without spending more money. Ergonomically speaking, this machine is terrible. You can look through every one of our elliptical reviews, and you won't find a single model that offers a less natural range of motion. For about $50 more, you can find ellipticals that are ergonomically superior to a large degree. You can even save money and find models that provide a more natural range of motion. The lack of adjustability is also very bad. The stride length is fixed at 14", which means you have no way to fit this machine to your personal body type. There are, however, 24 levels of resistance that allow you to align your workouts to your fitness levels. It's extremely rare to find an elliptical with less options for adjustments. As far as projected reliability is concerned, this model is horrible. You're not going to find a single elliptical that has a shorter life expectancy than this one does. The quality of parts is also disappointing, even for such a cheap model. The noise levels of this machine are quite loud. Most ellipticals make about the same amount of noise, but those that sell for less than $1,000 are generally slightly louder. This is one of the few models that is very loud during operation. If you want a quieter elliptical, you can find one at this price. The warranty on the xTerra FS 2.5e is good. Parts are covered for 1 year, and the frame is covered for 5 years. Most ellipticals in this price range won't provide a warranty that's this good.
