How long will the Merax W501 last?

The Merax W501 folding treadmill is designed with plastic and metal and has a very light assembled weight of 64 lbs. The factory claims that users of up to 240 lbs. (although the one we bought felt like it was about to collapse with a 200 lb. user) can powerwalk their way on the higher path to a healthier life while knowing they can return for free if they purchase from Walmart and send it back within a 90-day period. The W501 is meant for light use and is not designed to stand the test of time or heavy use. Without a valid warranty it stands to chance this fitness machine will end up as an expensive clothesline. It does come with the offer of a Walmart purchasing plan for those who believe a few bucks will offer actual replacements when things turn south.

Brief Overview

The Merax W501 is an entry level folding treadmill that is tailored more towards the walkers who are of the shorter and lighter persuasion. it is budget-friendly and will fit right into any apartment or smaller home environment with its light frame and foldable option that frees up space when workouts are complete. The W501 has decent features that keep it competitive in the less than $300 price range but ends up not comparing favorably due to its lack of warranties.

Overall Quality

The Merax W501 folding treadmills has a tiny 1.5 HP motor that is tailored towards walkers needing indoor exercise a few times a week and can reach speeds up to 8 MPH. Flat out running is discouraged, especially if users weigh more than 200 lbs. even though most would not be able to get a decent stride in with the 15.75” x 43.3” running surface. In addition, the W501 comes with 3 manual incline adjustments that can be changed before each workout session to intensify training during walking exercise.
The 5” LCD display sits squarely in the middle of the simplistic console offered on the Merax W501 folding treadmill and comes with 12 built in programs to aid users in the journey towards better health. To further motivate walkers, an audio port lets users glide to the sound of their favorite songs played through the integrated speakers. It also has a tablet holder for keeping devices close while during exercise sessions. Handgrips conveniently convey heartrate information and offer buttons for speed adjustments on the fly.

Conclusion

The Merax W501 folding treadmill has decent features though the lack of warranty is worrisome and does not give warm feelings of longevity when it comes to electrical and mechanical devices. Valid features are found in a sleek design that will fit comfortably into any smaller workout space due to its compact frame and folding ability and it would be quite competitive if backed by a reputable manufacturer and offered valid warranties. The Merax W501 is budget-friendly and while not designed for long term use, is a deal for those with smaller wallets and who could possibly fix their own machine when it inevitably breaks down.
