How long will the Lifespan TR1200 DT5 Desk last?

Even though you do not receive as many perks for the price, you do receive the quality support form the Lifespan company. There are a few really good mom and pop shops that sell the best sandwiches and even some neat grocery items. Even though we can buy a roast beef from Arby's, we are often willing to spend more on the same basic product simply because of the quality and care that it is built with. If you are the type of person to relish this kind of production, then you will more than likely like the kind of product that Lifespan produces. They do have a higher price tag, but their attention to detail and quality is sure to last you a very long time. With that said, please make sure to take care of your desk treadmill. By putting a lid on your coffee cup and wearing some clean shoes you can help maintain its quality and, consequently, extend its life.

Brief Overview

We like the Lifespan TR1200-DT5 treadmill desk mainly because of the people who make it. We recognize that the TR1200 DT5 is the original desk treadmill which offers a unique sense of value. But we also recognize that there are other desk treadmills that offer more features for the same price. Just as most normal treadmill comparisons, your decision to purchase a desk treadmill will boil down to a choice between quality and customer care or more features.

Overall Quality

One of the biggest distinctions between the TR1200 DT5 and other desk treadmills is the automated height adjustment. NordicTrack makes a desk treadmill that costs the same amount and allows you to move the desk to the side as well as automatically adjust the height. Lifespan also has an automated height adjusting desk treadmill, but it is about four hundred dollars more than the TR1200 DT5. But when you think about it, do you really need an automated height adjuster? I know that I do not like my screen moving up and down while I am trying to work, and I certainly do not grow significantly overnight. Sure, it may be easier to make small adjustments to perfectly situate your treadmill's desk. But really, how often will you adjust the height? Well, it may just be a personal preference or maybe I am the only one who does not have some kind of Alice in Wonderland height variation thing going on. So, if you really like the automated height adjustment, then maybe it will behoove you to shop around. But if you can just make the adjustment once why spend the extra money?

Outside of the height adjustment, there is not much else that separates the TR1200 DT5 from Lifespan’s better model. The TR1200 DT5 still comes with Bluetooth connectivity that allows you to track your steps on your device. This is especially nice since the console is only so big. In order to make room for the desk, most desk treadmills have a very basic console. Accordingly, Lifespan has done their best to make your workout and workout data accessible. This is typical of Lifespan as they usually pay attention to detail. Take the cord hiding feature for example. How many times a day do you push those pesky cords out of the way because they continue to move into your work area? Probably about as many times as the Bears win the Super Bowl. Nonetheless, Lifespan still wanted to make sure that no matter how active your computer cords are, you can hide them within your TR1200 DT5. Overall, we like that the TR1200 DT5 is a well-built, durable machine backed by a good company.

History

Our other reviews have spoken well of the TR1200 DT5, but we have expressed a few concerns. One concern has been that this desk treadmill does not come with an automated adjustable height which makes the value go down. The other main concern that we have talked about is the fact that NordicTrack has come out with a more valuable desk treadmill for the same price which offers a lot of competition to the TR1200 DT5.

Conclusion

There are other desk treadmills on the market that offer more features for a similar price. But, if you do not care to have extra features, then the TR1200 DT5 is still a good machine. We like that the TR1200 DT5 is backed by a reputable company that pays attention to quality and detail. Because of the care that it is built with, the TR1200 DT5 is likely to last you many long work days.
