Brief Overview

The 18.0 AXT is our 2nd Runner Up winner in the $2499 category.

Overall Quality

The 18.0 AXT is our 2nd Runner Up winner in the $2499 category. The 18.0 AXT is a solid quality elliptical with a decent value proposition. The AFG 18.0 AXT is a good elliptical sold for a fairly reasonable price. You're not getting anything terribly special with this machine, but there's nothing that's really disappointing about it, either. It was the 2nd runner up for our Best Buy award in the $2,000-2,499 price range. This is a very ergonomically average elliptical, which isn't great for a model that costs $2,499. You can even find some sub-$1,000 machines that have a similarly natural range of motion. The adjustability is less impressive, but the stride length can be altered from 19"-21". This should give several people of varying sizes enough options to be comfortable during their workout, so it's not like the lack of adjustability is atrocious. We simply believe that, given the price, you should expect more from this model. The projected reliability is good. Most of the models we reviewed have a lower life expectancy than this one does, and you'll have to spend at least $500 more to find an elliptical that we expect to last longer. The quality of parts is also good. It's not unheard of to use comparable parts in cheaper models, but not many companies are willing to use better parts than the ones found in this machine. The noise level is better than you'll find on your average elliptical. This is pretty rare to find, at any price. If a major factor of your purchasing decision is how quiet it is during operation, we recommend giving this model a look. The warranty is average for the AFG 18.0 AXT. Labor is covered for 1 year, parts are covered for 3 years, and the brake and frame are covered for life. It's not a bad warranty, but when you pay this much for your elliptical, you hope the manufacturer would be willing to back their product a little more.
